Clone sharpshooter
Clone sharpshooters, alternatively referred to as clone snipers, were a specific type of clone trooper utilized by the Grand Army of the Republic during the era of the Clone Wars.
History

In contrast to traditional army snipers, who are usually selected for their superior marksmanship skills, every clone trooper within the Grand Army of the Republic possessed equal levels of visual acuity, precision, composure, and patience. However, the sharpshooters underwent specialized flash training to master the finer points of sniping. These troopers were clones derived from the Human male bounty hunter Jango Fett, originating from the Wild Space planet of Kamino in 32 BBY. They formed a component of the Galactic Republic's Grand Army. Their specialized training enabled these snipers to patiently eliminate targets one by one.
Their primary operational role involved neutralizing Separatist battle droid forces from a distance, providing supporting fire for allied infantry units. They also utilized recon droids for short-range reconnaissance missions. Phase I clone snipers were identifiable by the maroon markings on their armor. These sharpshooters participated in numerous battles throughout the Clone Wars, with specialized sniper units present within the 501st Legion and Green Company. Following the establishment of the Galactic Empire in 19 BBY, the Grand Army of the Republic was disbanded, and its resources were integrated into the newly formed Imperial Military. Several sharpshooters were deployed by the Empire during the Battle of Dantooine to eliminate rebellious civilians under the command of Jedi Knight Falon Grey and former Imperial soldier X2.
Equipment
Clone sharpshooters were outfitted with purpose-built DC-15x sniper rifles (or, in the case of later Phase II clones, an alternative sniper rifle of unknown designation), DC-15Ss, R-1 recon droids or autoturrets, and V-1 thermal detonators.
Behind the scenes
Clone snipers are featured as the sniper class for the Galactic Republic faction in the Star Wars: Battlefront video game franchise.
