Biography

Palejo Reshad conducting business in the Bela Vistal cantina

Hailing from the planet of Corellia, the male Human known as Palejo Reshad made his living as a spice merchant. His base of operations was Bela Vistal, a city nestled among the mountain regions of his homeworld.

At some point after 0 BBY, Palejo Reshad conducted his business from a cantina in Bela Vistal. It was there that he engaged in trade with associates of Shalera, the Hutt crime lord. Following one such meeting, Reshad became the target of blackmail by an individual who had overheard and recorded their exchange. Reshad only became aware of this man's presence after the business was concluded. Instead of succumbing to the blackmailer's demands, Reshad resolved to eliminate him.

Fortunately for Reshad, he encountered a spacer who proved willing to assist him. After Reshad explained his predicament, the spacer embarked on a mission to locate the blackmailer amidst the surrounding mountains of Corellia. The spacer successfully found and killed the blackmailer. Upon returning to Reshad, the spacer received a payment of 500 credits. Reshad expressed his gratitude to the spacer and vowed to exercise greater caution in selecting the locations for his future business dealings.

By 4 ABY, Reshad had established connections with Jabba the Hutt's criminal empire on the planet Tatooine. He generated substantial profits through the sale of spice within Jabba's court, and he secretly diverted a portion of these profits to provide financial support to the Alliance to Restore the Republic. During that year, Reshad was present in the audience chamber of the Hutt's palace when the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO arrived with the intention of negotiating for the release of their master Luke Skywalker's friend Han Solo, who had been frozen in carbonite and was displayed in the palace. Shortly thereafter, Reshad witnessed Jabba cast his slave dancer Oola into the pit of his rancor.

A short time passed before Leia Organa, another ally of Solo, arrived in the audience chamber disguised as the bounty hunter Boushh. Organa was accompanied by the Wookiee Chewbacca, whom she presented as her "prisoner." She threatened to detonate a thermal detonator and destroy the palace. Organa managed to gain Jabba's favor, but later rescued Solo and attempted to flee the palace with him, resulting in their capture and imprisonment. Skywalker himself then arrived to demand their release, and Reshad observed Jabba consign him to the rancor pit. However, Skywalker prevailed and killed Jabba's rancor, prompting the Hutt to sentence him, Solo, and Chewbacca to death in Tatooine's Great Pit of Carkoon.

Personality and traits

Palejo Reshad maintained that his operations were largely within the bounds of the law. However, he engaged in illicit activities and was determined to eliminate the blackmailer who had recorded his conversation with Shalera's associates. He readily resorted to killing those who obstructed his business, even enlisting the help of a spacer he encountered. When the spacer successfully killed the blackmailer, Reshad expressed his gratitude and indicated his willingness to seek the spacer's assistance again if needed. During his time selling spice in Jabba's palace, Reshad used a portion of his profits to fund the Alliance to Restore the Republic. Reshad possessed fair skin, brown hair, and gray eyes. During his interaction with the spacer following his dealings with Shalera, Reshad sported a mohawk hairstyle.

Behind the scenes

Palejo Reshad, portrayed by an uncredited extra, made his debut in 1983's Star Wars: Episode VI Return of the Jedi as a background character during the scenes set in Jabba's palace. In 1998, he was given a name, and his backstory was slightly elaborated upon in the Jabba's Palace Limited set of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game.

Reshad was featured as a non-player character in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts. The game's servers were shut down on December 15, 2011. Players who undertook a single quest for Reshad were tasked with eliminating a blackmailer located outside of town. While players had the option to decline Reshad's quest, this article operates under the assumption of 100% game completion.
