The musical motif known as Qui-Gon's Theme was created by John Williams. It is linked to the character of Qui-Gon Jinn in the movie The Phantom Menace.
The theme is most noticeable in the film during the duel between Qui-Gon and Darth Maul on Tatooine. This occurs in the track titled "Letting Go / Attack Of The Sith" on the Extended Edition of the Episode I soundtrack. Additionally, we hear Qui-Gon's theme as he speaks with Obi-Wan as he is dying. On the Ultimate Edition soundtrack, the theme initially appears in an upbeat style in "Anakin Is Free", followed by a calmer version in "Qui-Gon and Darth Maul Meet", and then as a sorrowful piece in "The Tide Turns/The Death of Darth Maul". This concludes with a short, celebratory rendition that emphasizes the arrival of Palpatine's shuttle on Naboo. A short restatement of the theme was present in the Star Wars: The Clone Wars episode "Overlords" when Qui-Gon's vision appeared. This version was slower, played at a tempo akin to "The Force Theme."
A comparable musical phrase is played when the Rebel Alliance's v-150 Planet Defender ion cannon disables the Tyrant during the Battle of Hoth in Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back.
