Roasted Acklay Claws


Roasted Acklay Claws was a dish made by roasting the limbs of young acklay, a predatory creature native to the Expansion Region planet Vendaxa. Although live acklay had green shells, the roasted claws were red with white meat inside, which became tender when cooked. The legs were served together in groups all still attached to the same chunk of hard shell with slices of yellow garnish.

Following a culinary tour of the galaxy that he took between 34 ABY and 35 ABY, the Artiodac chef Strono Tuggs included a recipe for Roasted Acklay Claws in his third cookbook, The Ultimate Cookbook, which was published in 35 ABY. In the book, he described the roasted meat inside the shells as practically melting in the diner's mouth when eaten and claimed that readers need not feel guilty for eating young acklay, as the predators would do the same to them given the chance.

Roasted Acklay Claws was created as a recipe for the 2023 Star Wars: The Ultimate Cookbook, a recipe book written by Jenn Fujikawa and Marc Sumerak. The out-of-universe recipe for the claws makes use of Dungeness crab legs, salted butter, minced garlic cloves, lemon juice, Old Bay seasoning, lemon pepper, parsley, and lemon wedges.
