Shogo, originating from the planet Rei'izu, was a trans male individual. Abducted as a youngling by the Sith, he was trained to become a trooper. During this time, he formed a close bond with Ekiya, a female also from his homeworld. During their initial mission, Shogo's knee was shattered by their commander. Unable to afford a transplant, and distrustful of incorporating foreign technology into his body even after his fellow troopers raised enough funds, he instead engineered his own knee brace.
Following the Sith rebellion, Shogo transitioned into the role of a slicer. He preferred to undertake long-term jobs, spread out over years, to avoid the kind of attention-grabbing acts that led to the capture of other slicers. He maintained contact with Ekiya, storing emergency supplies of hormones on her starship, the Poor Crow. Ekiya was dedicated to returning relics to Rei'izu's displaced people, a cause Shogo viewed as futile, though he still supported her with resources and accepted her commission to construct a new prosthetic for the Ronin.

Shogo's first appearance was in Ronin: A Visions Novel, a book by Emma Mieko Candon that served as a companion piece to the Star Wars: Visions short film "The Duel." However, the character is not present within the short film itself.
Candon verified via social media that the hormones mentioned in Ronin: A Visions Novel are hormone replacement therapy used by transgender individuals.
