The camp was at one point discovered by a Galactic Empire informant, and, as a result, Captain Jarroth and the crew of the Imperial Victory-class Star Destroyer Stormwind were sent to investigate it. They first tortured several refugees on the suspicion that they were hiding information about Free Alignment troops and then killed everyone in the encampment when they attempted to fight back. It was the first mission of Imperial Navy Ensign Rannd Delckis, and he found the incident so horrifying that he subsequently defected to the Free Alignment.
Virgillia's forested moon was first mentioned in The Truce at Bakura Sourcebook, a roleplaying guide published in 1996 by West End Games for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The book was written by Kathy Tyers and Eric S. Trautmann. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Virgillia system, and therefore the moon, in grid square I-18.
