The Stormwind, a Victory-class Star Destroyer, was under the command of Captain Jarroth and operated as part of the Imperial Navy during the Galactic Empire's rule. This vessel's mission involved patrolling the Virgillia system to suppress any rebellious actions by the Virgillian Free Alignment, who were in conflict with the Aristocracy, the pro-Imperial ruling power during the Virgillian Civil War. Additionally, it was tasked with searching the system for any signs of activity related to the Alliance to Restore the Republic.
Serving within the ranks of the Imperial Navy, the Stormwind functioned as a Victory-class Star Destroyer. The ship possessed engines and communications systems that enabled it to receive incoming transmissions.

During the Imperial Era, the Stormwind functioned as a warship within a small fleet of Imperial Navy vessels that maintained watch over the Virgillia system. During the Virgillian Civil War, its objective was to prevent the anti-Imperial Virgillian Free Alignment from rebelling against the Aristocracy, the pro-Galactic Empire power that was in control of the system. Following the start of the Galactic Civil War, the Stormwind actively sought out suspected Rebel Alliance hideouts within the system.
At some point between 19 BBY and 4 ABY, the Stormwind received intelligence from an Imperial informant operating within the system, who claimed to have located a potential Free Alignment camp on Virgillia's forested moon. Despite the camp being a refugee camp with no ties to the Free Alignment, the ship's stormtroopers proceeded to kill all of the refugees upon investigating, acting on the orders of Captain Jarroth, the commanding officer of the vessel. As the Galactic Civil War intensified, Imperial forces withdrew their presence from the Virgillia system.
During the Galactic Empire's reign, Captain Jarroth held command of the Stormwind. The crew included Ensign Rannd Delckis, who worked as a communications assistant, and the ship also housed stormtrooper units.
The Stormwind was initially referenced in The Truce at Bakura Sourcebook, a roleplaying supplement published in 1996 by West End Games for Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The authors of the book were Kathy Tyers and Eric S. Trautmann.
