Vultar was a planet located in the Vultar system, a part of the Arrowhead region in the Slice portion of the Core Worlds. Evidence pointed to the Celestials, an advanced species that disappeared from the galaxy in 30,000 BBY, having used a set of devices, including the gravity-manipulation machine known as the Cosmic Turbine, to construct the Vultar system, including its planets.
In 4250 BBY, when a group of Dark Jedi activated those same devices, including the Cosmic Turbine, in order to use them against their enemy, the Jedi Order, a catastrophic accident instead destroyed the machines, the darksiders, and the entire Vultar system, leaving behind the Vultar Nebula. Millennia later, the fate of the Vultar system's planets was recorded in a document by the Historical Council of the Galactic Federation of Free Alliances.
The 2005 reference book The New Essential Chronology by Daniel Wallace and Kevin J. Anderson was the first source to mention the planets of the Vultar system. The planet Vultar was subsequently identified in 2008's The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Vultar system, and therefore the planet itself, in grid square L-10.
