"A Hot Time in the Cold Town Tonite!", a short comic, is the second to be featured in Star Wars Tales 6. Ian Edginton penned the story, while the artwork was created by Mark Martin and Rick Neilsen.
The Max Rebo Band is on their way to Hoth aboard their starship tour bus. During a conversation about the upcoming performance, they come to the realization that none of them actually made any arrangements for the gig. At that moment, a Holographic message from Jabba appears, revealing that he has dispatched them to play for his "friend," Bingo Mehndra. Jabba concludes his transmission by saying, "I want you to bring the house down," and then laughs as the message concludes. The band understands that Jabba's final statement was likely meant literally, given his nature. Upon landing on the planet, they are greeted by Bingo, who is enthusiastic but threatens to feed the band to his Wampa if they are planning any deceitful actions against him. While they are setting up their equipment, Droopy McCool discovers bombs concealed inside their speakers, which are set to go off when the band begins to play, resulting in the deaths of both Bingo and the band. Not wanting to be eaten or blown to pieces, Max devises a strategy to prevent both outcomes.
The band performs the concert and then plays an encore for the audience, but after the encore Sy Snootles addresses the crowd, saying, "You've been a great audience, Orto... Thank you! Goodnight!" Realizing that they are being betrayed, one of Bingo's men reaches onto the stage to prevent the band members from leaving, but it becomes apparent that they are merely holograms. Bingo shouts and threatens to feed them all to his Wampa once they are apprehended, but it is too late; the bombs explode, presumably killing Bingo and his entire group.
Having escaped the planet just outside the range of the massive explosion, the band discusses their recent experience. Concluding that avoiding a return to Jabba would be far too dangerous, the band sets a course back to Tatooine.
