The Academy of Jedi Archaeology served as an institution dedicated to the exploration of both Jedi and Sith history. Comprised of dedicated Jedi Researchers, the Academy backed investigations into locations like Ossus and Onderon throughout the period of the Great Sith War. In close collaboration with the Exploration Corps, members of the Academy focused on interpreting ancient writings and excavating historical objects, which were then passed on to colleagues within the Educational Corps.
During the time when Exar Kun fell to the dark side of the Force, Kun journeyed to Onderon and informed Jedi Master Arca Jeth that he possessed authorization from the Academy to examine the age-old Sith artifacts that Jeth had kept on the planet. After obtaining entry, Kun's descent into darkness persisted. After the Ruusan Reformation, the Academy persisted in its tasks alongside the EduCorps and ExplorCorps, providing assistance in modernizing the Jedi Archives as novel findings came to light.
