The Acclamator-class transgalactic military assault ship, which can also be called the Acclamator-class assault ship or Acclamator-class trans-galactic military transport ship, and even shortened to Acclamator-class transport, Acclamator-class troopship, or the less common Acclamator I transport, represented an assault-class capital ship designed by Rothana Heavy Engineering for the Galactic Republic. Serving as a precursor, it laid the groundwork for the subsequent Republic and Imperial designs that would become the iconic Star Destroyer series.

This Acclamator-class assault transport measured 752 meters in length, 460 meters in width, and 200 meters in height. Its operational role dictated its design, requiring it to both transport troops and engage enemy spacecraft. The Acclamator was specifically engineered to spearhead assaults on contested star systems, breach enemy orbital blockades, and deploy troops directly onto the battlefield. As a result, the Acclamator utilized a wedge-shaped or dagger-shaped design, known for its effectiveness in concentrating firepower while minimizing its profile as a target. This fundamental design principle had been previously employed in smaller vessels and would later become a hallmark of Imperial ship designs for decades to come.
A substantial assault hangar dominated the underside of the Acclamator, facilitating the rapid deployment of an entire legion of clone troopers along with their associated vehicles. The majority of the passenger and barrack compartments were situated on the upper decks of the Acclamator-class ships.
The bridge was centrally located within an arrow-shaped command tower module that extended from the dorsal superstructure. This tower module, a common design element found on smaller ships within Kuat Drive Yards's starship catalog (to which Rothana supplied vessels), featured advanced holoscreens instead of windows in the main bridge and command center. These screens mimicked the triangular viewport shapes found on other Kuat-produced vessels. Typically, fully-armored clone pilots staffed the control panels, with most operators positioned in twin crew pits beneath the command officer's platform. The sensor and communications arrays were housed at the front of the ship's command tower.
Acclamator-class vessels provided accommodations for sixteen thousand clone troopers, equivalent to a full legion or brigade and its support staff. They also had the capacity to carry eighty aircraft and eighty-four armored vehicles, including AT-TE and SPHA walkers, designed to provide heavy fire support for clone troopers on the ground. Beyond ground deployments, Acclamator-class ships could also land on water, as demonstrated during the Battle of Mon Calamari.

Each Acclamator-class ship carried 320 speeder bikes, used by clone troopers for rapid reconnaissance and patrol missions on the battlefield. Eighty Low Altitude Assault Transports (LAATs) were also onboard, consisting of approximately 66 infantry gunships and around 14 vehicle carriers, used to deploy personnel, vehicles, and cargo into combat zones, as well as provide close air support. During transit, the gunships were suspended from an overhead circulating rail system in the upper hangar for maintenance. A smaller, lower hangar area facilitated the embarkation and disembarkation of ground troops and equipment via a large ramp when landed. Elevator platforms connected the two levels.
Despite their primary role as troop transports, these ships were sufficiently armed to engage in planetary bombardments or ship-to-ship combat. They were equipped with 4 heavy torpedo launch tubes, 24 point-defense cannons (each rated at 6 megatons per shot), and 12 quad turbolaser turrets (each capable of delivering up to 200 gigatons per shot). The hull armor of Acclamator-class ships incorporated ultra-dispersive neutronium, which effectively absorbed and dissipated massive energy blasts. Consequently, fusion rockets fired by enemy forces caused minimal damage to the hull.
Groups of these ships were capable of executing a "Base Delta Zero," an orbital bombardment strategy designed to eradicate all life on a planet. The later Acclamator II-class could also function as star frigates, providing support to their landing forces.
The Acclamator-class's primary reactor was situated in the center of the ship, within the main superstructure, with multiple fuel tanks located forward of the reactor. These tanks compressed hypermatter to extremely high densities for storage and were connected to the main reactor via a network of pipes. Secondary reactors were positioned towards the bow of the ship.
The main thrusters were equipped with eight electromagnetic rudders that deflected the exhaust particle streams, providing increased thrust during turns. Although the secondary thrusters produced less power, their placement further from the ship's main axis made them valuable for maneuvering. The stern of the Acclamator-class featured a large fin that housed both the anti-gravity generator and the ship's hyperdrive generator. When landed, the repulsorlift system bore a significant portion of the ship's weight, while the landing legs ensured stable ground contact. The substantial hyperdrive generator, which occupied approximately two hundred meters of the ship's length, enabled a sustained hyperspace cruising speed of Class 0.6.
Rothana and Kuat had been developing the Acclamator-class design for years before the Clone Wars began, with testing occurring as early as 32 BBY. By the time Jedi Master Yoda arrived on Kamino to assemble an invasion force, numerous _Acclamator_s had already been constructed and prepared to transport the clone soldiers they were designed for. In their initial deployment at the First Battle of Geonosis, the class played a crucial role in the Republic's victory, delivering legions of clone troopers to the battlefield while a large Republic fleet engaged the Separatist fleet in orbit. After deploying their troops, the Acclamators withdrew to provide orbital support, with only a fraction of the ships sustaining damage during the battle.

Following the battle, the Republic ordered an additional 1,000 _Acclamator_s, recognizing their effectiveness as primary ground force delivery vehicles. While all _Acclamator_s were primarily crewed by clones, they also included regular Republic officers as the war progressed. Generally, access to _Acclamator_s and larger warships was restricted to most regular defense force personnel. During the height of the war, some _Acclamator_s displayed the paint markings of the Open Circle Fleet, similar to the Venators.
Various modifications were implemented during the war, with the Acclamator II-class assault ship being the most common variant. These subclasses participated in numerous battles throughout both the Clone Wars and the Galactic Civil War. Many were repurposed as mobile depot ships or dedicated clone commando carriers. For the Battle of Muunilinst, the assault ship Nevoota Bee was modified into a carrier, with its hangar decks reconfigured to accommodate 156 V-19 Torrent starfighters. The Acclamator served as the design basis for the Victory-class and other Star Destroyers.

Beyond their roles as warships and military transports in remote regions, some Imperial _Acclamator_s were repurposed as slave ships, transporting large numbers of enslaved individuals to various Imperial penal colonies during the Galactic Civil War. Although not initially classified as "Star Destroyers," the Acclamator-class was sometimes referred to as such during the Empire's rule. The Empire also modified some _Acclamator_s, reducing their armament to increase cargo capacity for use as Imperial cargo ships. While the Empire did not incorporate the Acclamator into its main fleets, it employed them for planetary defense and skirmishes.
Some _Acclamator_s fell into the hands of criminal organizations, such as the Zann Consortium. The Empire continued to utilize them as late as Operation Shadow Hand, and by 13 ABY, an Acclamator was stationed at the headquarters base of the Restored Empire, a splinter faction of the Empire. They remained in service well into the Yuuzhan Vong War.
The Alliance to Restore the Republic also operated at least one Acclamator, which participated in the Battle at Tingel Deepspace Besh.
Admiral Daala included one Acclamator I-class assault ship in her Maw Irregular Fleet during the Battle over Exodo II in 44 ABY.

Star Wars: The Ultimate Visual Guide states that the starships and vehicles used by the Republic during the Clone Wars, including the Acclamator and AT-TE, were "retired" shortly after the war's conclusion. This contradicts depictions in post-Revenge of the Sith media, such as Star Wars: Empire at War and the Star Wars: Empire comic series, which show them in continued use, albeit primarily on the Empire's more distant worlds. In the case of the Acclamator, some are specifically identified as "slave ships" by Darth Vader in the In the Shadows of Their Fathers story arc. Starships of the Galaxy (Saga Edition) clarified that _Acclamator_s were utilized by forces operating in backwater regions.
In the games Star Wars: Empire at War and Star Wars: Battlefront II, the _Acclamator_s are portrayed as being more focused on ship-to-ship combat than on transporting ground forces, and are classified as frigates. The 2007 edition of Starships of the Galaxy lists a crew of 20,141 and a hyperdrive rating of 0.75 for both Acclamator classes, conflicting with the figures of 700 and 0.6 provided by Star Wars: Attack of the Clones Incredible Cross-Sections and Star Wars: Complete Cross-Sections. Incredible Cross-Sections also indicates that the Acclamator's bridge lacked windows, relying on screens or holographic displays for visuals. However, various comics and the Clone Wars series depict the vessel with Star Destroyer-style trapezoidal window arrays.
