Adria Arjona, an actress of Puerto Rican descent, took on the role of Bix Caleen in the Andor television series that aired in 2022. She is also recognized for her portrayal of Dorothy Gale, the main character in the fantasy drama Emerald City, as well as for her supporting roles, including Anathema Device in the Amazon series Good Omens, Julia Reyes in the 2018 film Pacific Rim Uprising, and Martine Bancroft in the 2022 movie Morbius.
In the television series Andor, Adria Arjona played the character Bix Caleen. Her casting was not influenced by her ethnicity. Tony Gilroy, the executive producer and creator, excluded everyone else from the casting decisions. He then offered her the part, welcoming her to the Star Wars universe. Arjona and Gilroy had extensive discussions about Caleen's character development. Arjona was immediately drawn to her character's seemingly impenetrable exterior, which concealed her inner vulnerabilities. She appreciated Caleen's fearlessness, boldness, inner depth, loyalty, compassion, and excessive concern for others. She characterized her as a complex and diligent woman who is often underestimated.

Arjona had anticipated filming in front of a green screen or utilizing a virtual set but was taken aback by the construction of an entire city for the Ferrix scenes. The scenes set on the planet were shot on a detailed set located in Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire. Gilroy stated that the Ferrix scenes were filmed first. Arjona kept notepads in her apartment, using them to map out and connect the events that shaped Caleen's journey. Arjona developed a fondness for the droid B2EMO, finding him endearing, humorous, and "badass." During the initial take of a scene where Caleen and Luthen Rael conversed at a bar on Ferrix, Arjona stumbled on pebbles and fell. She insisted on redoing the scene. Arjona believed that Timm Karlo's betrayal profoundly affected Caleen, sending her into a downward spiral where she lost her sense of self. She found Gilroy's decision to subject Caleen to torture using an auditory device to be intriguing. Arjona mentioned that merely thinking about it disturbed her. She requested Gilroy to allow Caleen to exhibit a childlike helplessness towards the end of the series. In September 2022, Arjona was present at the Andor premiere event held in Hollywood, California.
