Aeten II, often referred to simply as Aeten, was a planet characterized by significant volcanic activity. This planet, situated in Wild Space, was a terrestrial world and the second planet from its star. Its location was designated as J-6 on the Standard Galactic Grid. The planet was renowned for its scarce stygium crystals, a specialized type of crystal capable of providing power for a starship's cloaking_device.
During the time of the Galactic Republic era, scientists made the discovery of stygium crystals on Aeten II. This discovery validated the potential of previously conceptualized designs for cloaking technology.
Within the current Star Wars canon, the initial reference to Aeten II, under the name "Aeten," appeared in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Beginner Game. This game was released by Fantasy Flight Games during 2016. The complete designation of the planet was later established in the reference publication TIE Fighter Owners' Workshop Manual, authored by Ryder Windham and published in 2019. While The Force Awakens Beginner Game places Aeten II in Wild Space, TIE Fighter Owners' Workshop Manual and Star Wars Complete Vehicles, New Edition places it in the Outer Rim Territories.
Within the Star Wars Legends narrative, the first mention of Aeten II occurred in Star Wars: Episode I Incredible Cross-Sections. This reference book was written by David West Reynolds and made available in 1999.
