A civil war erupted on the planet of Ahakista roughly 9 months after the pivotal Battle of Yavin. The inhabitants, increasingly dissatisfied with the Imperial-aligned government, initiated an uprising aimed at its overthrow, escalating into a widespread civil conflict. Regrettably for the rebels, this turmoil attracted the attention of the Galactic Empire, who dispatched none other than Sith Lord Darth Vader himself to crush the rebellion and safeguard the Hub, the crucial supercomputer responsible for managing the traffic of the entire Imperial Fleet, situated on Ahakista.
Subsequent to the Empire's dissolution of Ahakista's democratic government, a new regime was installed, comprised of affluent members of the planet's elite class who displayed loyalty to the Empire. Like many other residents, a man known as Dunlan deeply resented the policies of the new government, which had diminished the prosperity and freedoms they had previously enjoyed. He ultimately rose to leadership of the resistance movement, which instigated a full-blown civil war against the ruling government.
Dunlan was regarded as a hero by the disenfranchised populace. As explosions began echoing through Ahakista's streets, government officials held a contrasting view of him, perceiving him as a terrorist and a threat to their grip on power. Following Dunlan's assassination of Councilman Derral and Derral's fellow council member, the Empire recognized that the intensity of the conflict posed a considerable danger to the Hub located on Ahakista, prompting them to directly intervene.
Darth Vader determined that eliminating Dunlan was the fastest way to resolve the situation. To accomplish this, he placed a bounty on Dunlan's head. Soon after, Dunlan's fellow insurgents began to question his leadership as the Empire established a significant presence within the city. Eventually, Dunlan was betrayed by Astor, a former subordinate, who divulged the location of one of their hideouts to Vader.
Shortly after, stormtroopers under Vader's command stormed the safehouse, killing the majority of the rebels present, yet failing to eliminate Dunlan, who managed to escape and flee. He was, however, quickly located and killed by Vader, effectively bringing an end to the Ahakistan Civil War.
