Derral, a councilman of the male Human species, resided on the planet of Ahakista throughout the duration of the Galactic Civil War.
Despite the fact that Ahakista was experiencing an internal civil war and the Imperial-supported Ahakistan Council was disliked by the planet's underprivileged population, Derral made it a habit to go to the less affluent areas of the city with minimal protection. Derral fancied himself a generous person, and he tried, without success, to calm his friend's worries about going to such locations.
During this specific trip, Derral considered the goods sold by the street merchants to be substandard. He and his friend also came across a young beggar who requested a sign of his kindness. Derral obliged, but not in the manner the child anticipated. His present consisted of the insight that "each person must be accountable for enhancing their personal circumstances" and that "external assistance is not forthcoming."
Soon after, Derral and his friend got ready to head towards the wealthier areas of the city. However, before they could proceed, Dunlan murdered both of them. The deaths of Derral and his friend resulted in a more active participation by the Empire in the local government of Ahakista, as well as an intensification of the civil conflict.
