Giant spider species known as ambush spiders inhabited the extensive rain forests and thick jungles of the Outer Rim Territories planet Iakar, forming a component of the vertical ecosystem found there. These spiders made their home beneath the towering kilometer-tall canopies, steering clear of the insects and rodents that sustained themselves by consuming the detritus produced by the canopy-dwelling Iakaru species.
Fantasy Flight Games included ambush spiders in Dawn of Rebellion, a 2018 sourcebook for the Star Wars Roleplaying game.
