Iakar, sometimes referred to as Iakaru, served as the native planet for the Iakaru species and was a jungle world situated within the Iakar system. In the era of the Clone Wars, corporate entities like Chiewab, Fabreth Medical, and Merisee Prime established research facilities there, which forced the Iakaru to retreat further into the depths of the jungle. With the ascent of the Empire, Iakar underwent a complete takeover and occupation of Iakar. The primary objective of this occupation was to procure medical resources to support the Empire's growing military endeavors. A Rebel Alliance Special Forces unit stole medical provisions from Iakar approximately six months prior to the Battle of Scarif.
