Iakaru

The Iakaru evolved within a jungle canopy environment, resulting in an extraordinary sense of spatial orientation, enhanced by their sensitive brow tufts. Their arboreal lifestyle, moving through the dense trees, necessitated exceptional eyesight, precise depth perception, and rapid reflexes.

During the Clone Wars, many Iakaru suffered massacred at the hands of corporate entities. By the time of the Battle of Scarif, Iakaru were rarely seen in the galaxy, primarily because they lacked hyperdrive technology. Interstellar trade had reached their homeworld, Iakar, for almost a century. Pharmaceutical companies extracted valuable organic substances from the abundant rain forests that surrounded the planet. During the Clone Wars, these companies established significant research facilities on Iakar, which forced the Iakaru further into the jungle and strained the already fragile trade relationships between the natives and the offworlders. With the rise of the Galactic Empire and its expanding military, the demand for medical resources increased, leading to a complete Imperial takeover and occupation of Iakar.

The Iakuru made their debut appearance in the 2015 Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes mobile game. Pablo Hidalgo drew inspiration for the Iakuru's name from the Amazonian uakari monkey.
