The attack on the Lars Homestead, which occurred in 9 BBY, was perpetrated by Reva Sevander against the Lars Homestead with the intention to kill Luke Skywalker.
After suffering defeat in her duel on Jabiim, Reva Sevander discovered an imagecaster that held a transmission from Senator Bail Organa. This transmission, originally meant for Obi-Wan Kenobi, mentioned Luke Skywalker and his family, who resided on the Outer Rim planet of Tatooine. Realizing that Skywalker was the offspring of Darth Vader, Reva managed to escape Jabiim and journeyed to the desert world.
Reva, severely wounded from her duel, reached Tatooine and started inquiring with the local population about the whereabouts of Owen Lars. Having been warned by an unnamed local, Owen became aware of Reva's pursuit and rushed back to his homestead to alert Beru and Luke about the approaching danger. Anticipating Reva's arrival after sunset, Beru and Owen armed themselves with blaster rifles and prepared to defend their home.
As night descended, Owen and Beru escorted Luke to the garage, where Lars informed him that Tusken Raiders were active again and that he should run as far as possible if anything went wrong. Despite Luke's assertion that he wasn't afraid, Lars and Beru reassured him that everything would be alright before locking him inside the garage. Almost immediately after, Reva arrived at the homestead, triggering the perimeter alarm and alerting Lars and Beru to her presence. Activating her lightsaber as she searched the dwelling, Reva was suddenly ambushed by Beru and Owen, who confronted her with a barrage of blaster fire, none of which hit her. Beru then ran off to protect Luke while Owen engaged Reva at the door, managing to inflict two strikes on her wound before being pushed aside. Upon entering the garage, Reva was struck by Beru while Skywalker escaped through the tech dome. Overpowering Beru, Reva exited the homestead and pursued Luke.
Luke fled as fast as he could, eventually arriving at Beggar's Canyon with Reva in close pursuit. As Reva chased after Skywalker, she found him running on top of a ledge above her. Employing the Force, she caused Luke to lose his footing, resulting in him falling down the side of the ledge and losing consciousness. Reva approached the boy, igniting her lightsaber with the intention of killing him as revenge against Vader. She raised her weapon, but hesitated to strike, as she began to see herself as a Jedi Youngling in Luke's position. After a moment of doubt, Reva was unable to bring herself to kill Skywalker.
Reva returned from the canyon to the Lars Homestead, carrying an unconscious Luke in her arms. She knelt before a distressed Owen and Beru. Jedi Master Obi Wan Kenobi had also journeyed to Tatooine after confronting Darth Vader on a desolate moon. She placed Luke on the sand, and Owen promptly picked him up, and the family retreated back to their homestead. She began to cry, declaring that she had failed her fellow younglings who had perished during the siege of the Jedi Temple by Vader. Kenobi comforted Reva, saying that she had not failed, but rather, by sparing Luke's life, she had honored them. He told her that her future was her choice, to which Reva responded by dropping her lightsaber into the sand. Kenobi helped her to her feet, telling her that they were both now free.
