An asteroid field
Asteroid fields consisted of collections of asteroids of different sizes and could be found throughout the vastness of the galaxy. Due to their inherently unpredictable nature, navigating asteroid fields safely was almost impossible. As a result, the majority of pilots were unwilling to risk flying through them. However, some creatures were known to live within asteroid fields, such as the exogorth from cantina stories, as well as the dangerous fyrnock, which inhabited places like Fort Anaxes. The exogorths made their homes in caves within the asteroids, where they fed on minerals, mynocks, and any starships that happened to pass by.
Prior to the outbreak of the Clone Wars, Jedi Knight Obi-Wan Kenobi used a clever strategy. He concealed his small Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor behind an asteroid in an asteroid field. This was done to avoid being detected and pursued by bounty hunter Jango Fett, who was flying Slave I with his son, Boba Fett, as a witness. Later, Boba Fett anticipated a similar tactic from smuggler pilot Han Solo. Solo hid his craft from the Galactic Empire's Death Squadron by attaching it to the back of an Imperial Star Destroyer. As the Star Destroyer expelled its waste before jumping to hyperspace, as was standard practice, Solo piloted his freighter through the resulting debris field, successfully evading detection, except for Boba Fett, who had become a skilled bounty hunter himself.
