Banda (Chiggnash)
Banda was a criminal of the Chiggnash species, identifiable by his yellow carapace, who conducted illegal activities on Nar Shaddaa, which is known as the smuggler's moon orbiting Nal Hutta. His operations took place shortly after the Galactic Empire's ascension.
In the year 19 BBY, Shnozitskigante-maximilliana, a Pacithhip working as a docking bay attendant, approached Banda with a proposal: to steal from the disguised Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi while he was on Nar Shaddaa. Shnozitski demanded fifty-one percent of the take for the information. He also mistakenly identified Banda as Riley, another Chiggnash. A deal was made, and Banda, armed with a squib tensor rifle and sporting two crossed bandoliers, ambushed the Jedi in a secluded alley. He was supported by Riley and groups of three mind-controlled Gamorrean sows, Kyuzo go-zeki, and rabid frog-dogs. Kenobi refused to surrender, ignited his lightsaber, and eliminated the frog-dogs, revealing his Jedi identity and making himself a target for the Imperial bounty placed on the Jedi Order. However, the Chiggnash and their warrior drones then found themselves under attack by two Dark Jedi. Mei, a former Jensaarai, dismembered and disarmed Banda and Riley, and ultimately killed the Chiggnash as they pleaded for their lives.
Behind the scenes
Banda made an appearance in the short story "Lone Wolf: A Tale of Obi-Wan and Luke" written by Abel G. Peña. Banda's name, along with Riley's, is an anagram of "Brian Daley," the creator of the Chiggnash species.
