The title of Baron of the Empire, alternatively referred to as Baron of the Imperial Navy, Flight Baron, or just baron, was bestowed upon distinguished TIE fighter pilots within the Galactic Empire's military. As a symbol of their distinguished position, these barons were authorized to display red embellishments on their typically all-black flight suits and helmets. Notable examples of such barons are Valen Rudor, Soontir Fel, and Titan Three. Subsequently, the First Order took cues from the red highlights of the Imperial barons when creating the helmets for their First Order Special Forces.
