Barseg

Barseg, a planetary body, could be found within the Tion Cluster situated in the Outer Rim Territories. Its location placed it along the well-traveled Perlemian Trade Route. This planet is steeped in historical significance.

History

Before the establishment of the Kingdom of Cron on Cadinth, specifically before 25,150 BBY, Barseg held dominion over a modest interstellar empire. Barseg functioned as the central world for one of the oldest political entities within the Tion Cluster: the Kingdom of Barseg. Subsequently, Barseg formed alliances with the Kingdoms of Cadinth and Jaminere, resulting in the formation of the Three Allied Kingdoms. However, the Pirate King known as Xer VIII launched a military campaign against these kingdoms between 25,150 BBY and 25,130 BBY, ultimately defeating the Kingdom of Barseg at the Battle of Barseg. Barseg, along with the other worlds of the Three Allied Kingdoms, were then incorporated into Xer's Empire, and later into Xim's Empire until its downfall in 25,100 BBY. Following the conclusion of the Tionese War, Barseg and the entirety of the Tion Cluster were integrated into the Galactic Republic, with the Kingdom of Barseg continuing to exist.

For thousands of years, Barseg held the neighboring world of Lorrad in servitude, subjecting its inhabitants, the Lorradians, to harsh living conditions. This enslavement ended around 300 BBY when the Republic conquered Barseg, although Barseg retained its economic dominance over Lorrad. The Kingdom of Barseg historically encompassed Lianna. The Liannan provinces of Caldara and Berene initiated the last major war for independence on Lianna against Barseg, which led to the complete destruction of both provinces. The Galactic Senate disregarded the plight of Lianna until it assumed control of Lianna from Barseg in 300 BBY.

During the waning years of the Republic, the worlds of the Tion Cluster aligned themselves with the CIS. Later, the Galactic Empire subjugated them and established the Allied Tion sector. The Barsegi people were renowned for their arrogance and their deep-seated pride in their ancient imperial history. The planet itself was characterized by an extremely strict caste system, and even during the Imperial era, many inhabitants of this somber trading world performed the same tasks as their distant forebears.
