The formidable, heavily armored, four-legged droids referred to as Basilisk war droids, and also known as Mandalorian Basilisks, were utilized by the Mandalorian Crusaders. The Qel-Droma Epics state that the Mandalorian Crusaders, at one stage, were led by the disgraced Jedi Knight Ulic Qel-Droma from the Iron Citadel located on Empress Teta; they rode Basilisk war droids when they engaged in battle.
The Star Wars Roleplaying sourcebook Nexus of Power from 2016 was the first place the Basilisk war droid was mentioned. Within the Star Wars Legends storyline, the Basilisk war droid debuted in the comic Tales of the Jedi – The Sith War 1. The Mandalorians employed this semi-sentient droid to achieve victory in the conquest of numerous planets during their crusades.
