Beckett's gang
Beckett's group, alternatively referred to as Tobias Beckett's crew or Tobias Beckett's gang, was a criminal organization helmed by the outlaw Tobias Beckett at some time throughout the reign of the Galactic Empire. This team, comprised of expert rogues, was put together by Beckett to execute high-stakes, yet lucrative, robberies. Rio Durant served as the pilot, while Val possessed expertise in explosives. The smuggler Han Solo and Chewbacca received an invitation to join the ranks of the crew.
Behind the scenes
The initial glimpse of Tobias Beckett's crew occurred during the debut preview of the Star Wars Anthology Series movie Solo: A Star Wars Story. This reveal took place in the "Big Game" TV advertisement that aired during Super Bowl LII on February 4, 2018.
Original plot concepts for Solo featured a further member of the gang, a "squid-monkey" known as Zapf, who was later integrated into the character of Rio Durant.
