To categorize the Dark Horse comic series Star Wars: Dawn of the Jedi, Before the Republic was established as the seventh in-universe publishing period. This period encompasses the Dawn of the Jedi trilogy, the related book Dawn of the Jedi: Into the Void, and a pair of accompanying short stories.
Initially, the Dawn of the Jedi issues indicated that Before the Republic covered the period from 36,000–25,000 BBY. However, the first trade paperback of the series clarified that the timeframe started at 37,000 BBY to align with the beginning of the first issue, which takes place in 36,453 BBY. The subsequent two story arcs then showed the updated date.
