As the queen of Rendel, Bellan's reign took a dark turn. Driven by the belief that her sister, Zalla, would seize power using her abilities, she made the decision to imprison Zalla. Zalla, however, utilized her powers to break free, causing plant life to overwhelm Rendel. Bellan was forced to flee the planet. Subsequently, she employed pilots and smugglers, tasking them with missions to Rendel, unaware that they were pawns in her scheme to defeat Zalla.

Born on Rendel, Bellan was the sibling of Zalla. Unlike others of her species, Zalla possessed unique powers. Initially, the two sisters shared a close bond, with Bellan reassuring Zalla that her differences were accepted. However, after some time, Bellan ascended to the throne, becoming the queen of Rendel. Her feelings towards Zalla shifted, and she grew fearful that Zalla would attempt to overthrow her. Consequently, she took the drastic step of imprisoning her sister, treating her as a threat. This act of betrayal ignited hatred within Zalla, who patiently awaited her chance to escape. She eventually managed to free herself by manipulating a seed that had fallen into her cell, using it to spread vegetation across Rendel. Bellan, in response, fled, swearing to avenge herself against her sister.
In her exile, Bellan began to hire various smugglers and starship pilots for assignments on Rendel, secretly hoping they would defeat her sister. Due to the widespread belief that Rendel was cursed, many declined her offers. Bellan successfully recruited the Barbadelan Karamu to transport a statue to Rendel, but the pilot's mission failed, and he became entangled in Zalla's vines. Later, she encountered Han Solo, who agreed to the proposition, motivated by the promise of one million credits. Bellan provided Solo with a statue containing a toxic substance capable of harming Zalla's plants, and the smuggler proceeded to deliver it to Rendel.

Upon arriving on Rendel, Solo was also captured by Zalla, who exposed Bellan's true motives, revealing that he had been deceived. Nevertheless, Bellan achieved her revenge when Solo accidentally shattered the statue by throwing it at Zalla. The released substance began to weaken Zalla's powers. Ultimately, Zalla, along with the plants she had created, withered and died as Solo made his escape from Rendel.
Bellan possessed orange skin and distinctive yellow eyes. Her face was marked with white patterns. In her youth, she and Zalla shared a close friendship, despite Zalla's unique nature. However, as she matured, fear consumed her, leading her to believe that Zalla would usurp her power, resulting in Zalla's imprisonment. After Zalla's takeover of the kingdom, Bellan became consumed by a desire for vengeance.
Bellan's initial appearance occurred in the flashback sequence of the 2018 canon comic, Star Wars Adventures: Tales from Vader's Castle 3, penned by Cavan Scott and brought to life by the illustrations of Corin Howell. Scott's original idea was to name Bellan and Zalla Ana and Helza, a direct reference to Anna and Elsa, the sister protagonists in Disney's 2013 animated movie, Frozen, but he later decided to alter the names to something less conspicuous.
