Bera Jeza was a female Aqualish biological scientist. She made her home on Tatooine during the time of the Galactic Civil War.
At the time the Battle of Yavin took place, Bera Jeza was living in Mos Eisley, which was located on the desert planet of Tatooine. She was employed as a lab assistant at the Mos Eisley Biolab. However, she also had a clandestine arrangement with the Hutt Crime lord Jabba Desilijic Tiure, involving the illegal creation of spice.
Eventually, her boss, the scientist named Derg Prantis, managed to acquire a sample of the terrible Blackwing virus from a scientist working for the Imperial forces. Because of this, Prantis constructed a secret laboratory on the far-off world of Lok to do his own research on the virus, with the goal of developing a super soldier drug. The scientist brought in Bera Jeza to assist him. However, Jeza soon double-crossed her boss and got in touch with Jabba the Hutt to offer him the super soldier drug. In 1 ABY, Bera Jeza was about to meet with Bib Fortuna, Jabba's majordomo, when she was murdered on a Mos Eisley street. Mos Eisley Police officer Happer was assigned to investigate the killing. Meanwhile, Bib Fortuna hired a spacer to find out if Jeza's deal with Jabba had anything to do with the crime. The spacer would then uncover the murder of Derg Prantis, as well as the secret research project on Lok. The investigation ultimately led to the discovery of a Blackwing virus outbreak that was occurring on Dathomir.
Bera Jeza made an appearance as a deceased non-player character (NPC) within the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies. This game was a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game that was created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, before it was shut down on December 15, 2011. Bera Jeza was incorporated into the game through "Game Update 13," which was launched on September 30, 2009. This particular NPC was a component of the questline titled "Something is Obviously Wrong," which served as an introduction to the "Death Troopers" update.
