The lightsaber of Bichan, a weapon of considerable power, was the signature armament of the Sith Lord known as Bichan. During a fierce war that pitted the forces of the Sith against the Jedi Order, this lightsaber became a tool of destruction. Bichan utilized this lightsaber, complete with a distinctive whip affixed to its hilt, to kill no fewer than eight Jedi during a heated duel. Furthermore, he inflicted a lasting scar upon the face of the Jedi Padawan named Toul. Later, at the statues of prophecy located on the planet of Dolgarak, Bichan once again dueled Toul, wielding his lightsaber with deadly precision. In that confrontation, the Sith employed the whip feature to restrain the Jedi. Nevertheless, Toul ultimately prevailed, ending Bichan's life.
The lightsaber in Bichan's possession was identified as a Sith lightsaber, the personal weapon of the Sith Lord Bichan. Its defining characteristics included a blade of red hue and a dark-colored hilt adorned with brown and tan accents. Notably, the hilt featured a two-pronged guard that extended approximately one-third of its total length. A red activation button was positioned near the blade emitter. Attached to the pommel of the lightsaber's hilt was a unique addition: a long whip composed of dark segments, designed to be telescopically extended or collapsed as needed. The whip's flexibility could be adjusted, and its tip was equipped with a sharp tan blade featuring three glowing-red accents. In the heat of combat, Bichan demonstrated versatility in his grip, wielding the lightsaber with both single-handed and two-handed techniques.

During a period no later than 1032 BBY, Bichan brandished his lightsaber in a war between the Sith, a group of Force-users steeped in ancient traditions, and their ideological adversaries, the Jedi Order. In one particular duel, he confronted a contingent of at least nine Jedi, employing his weapon to kill at least seven of them. Bichan then attempted a fatal overhead strike against the young Jedi Padawan Toul; however, Toul's Jedi teacher intervened, blocking the Sith Lord's attack. Shortly thereafter, Bichan fatally struck the older Jedi by impaling them in the back with the whip component of his lightsaber.
After the Sith allowed the Jedi's body to fall, Toul launched his own assault. Bichan responded by using his whip once more, this time to disarm the Jedi apprentice and bind his wrists together. The Sith then briefly flung Toul around in the air to immobilize him, before lifting him up again. Intrigued by the rage Toul displayed, Bichan invited the Jedi to seek him out when he was ready to embrace the dark side of the Force. To further taunt him, Bichan used the tip of his lightsaber's blade to burn a scar at the right corner of Toul's mouth. Bichan then released the Padawan to the ground and departed the scene of the duel, his lightsaber still activated.
Sometime afterward, Bichan encountered Toul again at a marketplace asteroid. He then shadowed the Jedi as he embarked on a mission to the planet Dolgarak. Bichan downed the starship carrying Toul and the mechanic Ara, but the pair escaped the wreckage of their crashed craft aboard a speeder, causing Bichan's vessel to crash as well. Bichan survived, however, and leaped atop the speeder, lightsaber ignited, as it ascended a spiraling path toward one of the planet's two statues of prophecy. With Toul also atop the speeding vehicle, the two engaged in a lightsaber duel as Ara drove the speeder off the statue's hand and above the cloud layer obscuring the statues' heads.

Bichan and Toul both jumped to the large stone ring connecting the heads and continued their fight. At one point, they crashed into the cavern-like interior of the ring, where Bichan used his lightsaber's blade to slow his descent by plunging it into a crystal pillar. The Sith and Jedi continued their battle inside the ring, with their lightsaber strikes occasionally producing purple energy discharges. Bichan also used the whip of his weapon to lash out at Toul.
Ultimately, the two combatants re-emerged atop the ring, where Bichan managed to disarm Toul. He then wrapped his whip around Toul's neck and held him over the edge of the ring, offering him the choice of joining him or dying. At that moment, however, Ara created a distraction that allowed Toul to reclaim his weapon and kill Bichan. The Sith Lord's body and lightsaber remained on the stone ring, while Toul fell toward the ground at the statues' base, followed by Ara, who wore a parachute and intended to catch him in mid-air.

Bichan's lightsaber was conceived for "Journey to the Dark Head," the fifth episode of the second volume of the Star Wars: Visions non-canon animated anthology television series. The episode was produced by the South Korean Studio Mir and premiered on Disney+ on May 4, 2023. The weapon was initially revealed in the official trailer for Visions' second volume, released on April 10, 2023. Its name was confirmed in the Star Wars: Visions Filmmaker Focus series of featurettes accompanying the episode.
Kim Hyun Min and Choi Ji Hyeon created concept art of Bichan's lightsaber. The concept art depicted the blade emitter as detachable from the hilt, connected by an extendable, flexible tubular component similar to the whip attachment seen in the episode. However, the final design did not include this feature.
According to Kang You Tae, Art Director at Studio Mir, the initial design phase for Bichan considered weapons like a tonfa or a "trident lightsaber." However, the character's lines and characteristics reminded the creative team of a snake, leading to the "snake-like" whip attached to the lightsaber. Kang stated that this weapon design reflected Bichan's character. Kim Suk Won, the sound supervisor, aimed to distinguish between the episode's good and evil characters through sound alone. He used Korean musical instruments to create new lightsaber sound effects in "Journey to the Dark Head," ultimately using a human voice sample to create a "ghostly" sound for Bichan's weapon.
