Blackguard (Star Destroyer)

The Blackguard was originally an Imperial-class Star Destroyer. However, it was seized by Andal Sait, a renegade Imperial Captain who declared himself a Grand Admiral. Sait's objective was to sell the warship to the criminal syndicate known as Black Sun.

History

The Blackguard

Within the Township of Aurilia, representatives from the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance were present. In addition, there was an independent financier named Hirael Chindiaye. Unlike the Rebel Alliance and Galactic Empire, who both aimed to recapture the renegade Star Destroyer for military application, Chindiaye sought to acquire it for his own private purposes.

Each of the three factions successfully enlisted a team of spacers. These teams subsequently intercepted the Star Destroyer while it was stationed in the Ord Mantell system. With the help of surviving crew members still loyal to the Empire, they managed to force their way into the ship's Hangar Bay and fought their way through the vessel. Although most of the crew loyal to the Empire had either escaped or been eliminated, the fight proved difficult. Admiral Sait had garnered support from several sympathizers among the crew, as well as members of Black Sun.

The ultimate destiny of the Blackguard remained shrouded in mystery. Whichever faction ultimately gained control of the ship, the Empire swiftly suppressed any information regarding the loss of one of its most formidable warships. The Imperial HoloVision would never broadcast such news. However, it was widely believed that Admiral Sait perished during the battle on the bridge, along with other high-ranking rogue Imperials and Black Sun operatives who were present to ensure Sait upheld his end of the bargain.

Behind the scenes

The Blackguard was implemented as a "heroic instance" in Star Wars Galaxies through "Chapter 8." It facilitated interactions between pilots and players focused on ground combat. Given that the instance was repeatable and accessible to virtually anyone above Combat Level 70, there was no definitive "end" to the questline.

Players can earn a special painting of the Blackguard through an in-game collection.
