Aurilia, a settlement shrouded in mystery, existed on the planet of Dathomir. It was established by a small band of Force-sensitive individuals seeking refuge. Around 1 ABY, the village was attacked by Mellichae, a Dark Jedi, and his Sith Shadows. With the assistance of an unknown spacer, they were ultimately defeated. Aurilia subsequently flourished, evolving into a prosperous township.

Initially, Aurilia was founded as a haven for a small community of Force-sensitive outcasts, a place where they could practice the Force away from the wider concerns of the galaxy. The village was a simple, rural settlement comprised of huts, encircled by a stone wall for defense. To further protect themselves, the villagers employed their Force abilities to generate a thick fog around the village, which could only be penetrated by those sensitive to the Force.
Approximately around 1 ABY, the cyborg Dark Jedi named Mellichae and his Sith Shadows launched an assault on the village. Mellichae's motivation was the belief that eliminating or capturing the Force-sensitive residents would restore him to favor with Emperor Palpatine, potentially earning him a place at the Emperor's side. The villagers diligently prepared for the attack, but the village suffered considerable damage. Eventually, with the aid of a spacer, Mellichae was subdued and confined within the Aurilia prison.
Following this event, the village withdrew into the mist, isolating itself from the rest of the galaxy. When the mist eventually dissipated, a transformed Aurilia emerged, having been rebuilt into a significantly larger township. Pilots and spacers from across the galaxy journeyed to the revitalized Aurilia to acquire rare goods from the local traders and to embark on perilous and thrilling quests offered by the Adventurers' Guildhall.
Aurilia's introduction to Star Wars Galaxies occurred on August 31, 2004, approximately one year after the game's initial launch. It was incorporated as part of Publish 10, titled "The Jedi Trials." This location served as a setting where players controlling Force-sensitive characters would undertake various tasks to become a Jedi Padawan.
The removal of Aurilia from the game took place with the introduction of the New Game Enhancements in late 2005. However, it was reintroduced in Chapter 7 (November 2007), this time as a township rather than a village. Star Wars Galaxies was subsequently discontinued on December 15, 2011.
