In the year 23 ABY, an explosion devastated the dining hall within Fountain Palace. This palace served as the private residence for the Hapan Queen Mother on the planet Hapes. The intended target of the bomb was Ta'a Chume, the matriarch of Hapes, along with her granddaughter Tenel Ka, a Hapan princess; however, the two were unexpectedly dining with Jedi trainees Lowbacca, Jacen Solo, and Jaina Solo in Tenel Ka's private chambers. Consequently, the explosion caused no injuries.
Following the bombing incident, the young Jedi were relocated to Reef Fortress, a private island stronghold belonging to the Royal Family of Hapes. There, they were supervised by Yfra, Ta'a Chume's personal ambassador, and members of the Hapan Honor Guards. Ta'a Chume frequently traveled between Reef Fortress and Fountain Palace, overseeing the bombing investigation. Eventually, one of the conspirators involved in the bombing was apprehended. Regrettably, the prisoner was poisoned before any interrogation could take place.
The bombing of Fountain Palace was first depicted in the book Young Jedi Knights: Lightsabers, authored by Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta, and released in 1996.
