Borvo, a Hutt crime lord, possessed an acklay during the era of the Galactic Civil War; this creature was known as Borvo's acklay. The acklay was housed within Borvo's Vault, situated close to Moenia on the planet Naboo. Borvo the Hutt's practice involved the raising of unusual creatures, with the ultimate goal of forging new armor for his personal military force. During 1 ABY, a spacer infiltrated the vault to obtain a decentralized autonomy chip droid module that originated from the Old Republic. The spacer eliminated the acklay, subsequently acquiring fragments of its shell. These fragments were then provided to Dakk, an armorsmith, who utilized them to construct a suit of acklay armor.
The 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game created by Sony Online Entertainment and distributed by LucasArts, featured Borvo's acklay as a non-player character before the game's shutdown on December 15, 2011. The acklay belonging to Borvo was integrated into the game as a component of the "Legacy Quest" with the release of "Publish 25," also known as the "New Game Enhancements," on November 15, 2005. Later, a side quest that involved the acklay chest armor piece was introduced to the game with the launch of "Publish 28," on April 26, 2006.
