The language spoken by the Bothans was called Bothese. It was also simply referred to as Bothan.
Following the Dressellians' initial encounters with the Bothans, Bothese significantly impacted the development of the Dressellese language. Dressellese adopted numerous Bothese terms as loanwords to express entirely novel ideas. Later, after Dressel gained freedom from Imperial control, the Dressellians made the decision to abandon their original symbol-based writing system in favor of the Bothese alphabet.
Furthermore, Bothese played a role in shaping the early stages of Galactic Basic Standard.
