A padawan braid A braid is a hairstyle created by interlacing several strands of hair. Throughout the galaxy, various species and cultures adopted this style. Specifically, Jedi Padawans sported Padawan braids as a symbol of their apprentice status; these braids were ceremoniously removed upon completion of their training. Braids also held cultural importance on the planet Alderaan, where numerous Alderaanians donned them, and the monarch traditionally wore them. The bounty hunter known as Boba Fett adorned his armor with braids crafted from the hair of Wookiees. During a conflict with the Wookiee Chewbacca on the planet Jekara, he made a threat to fashion a new braid using Chewbacca's hair.
