Brainworm Rot Type C represented one of the three identified forms of the airborne hive virus illness referred to as the Brainrot Plague, or alternatively, Brainworm Rot. This ailment specifically targeted both cephalopods and humanoid beings, impacting their central nervous system and resulting in symptoms such as nausea, excessive perspiration, diminished communication skills, and—in the absence of preventative immunization—a rapid death.
The sentient Neimoidian race functioned as a vector for the virus. By the year 6 ABY, it had become a cynical joke, repeated for years, that the disease constituted the primary export of the Neimoidians' native world, the Colonies planet Neimoidia. By that point in time, the reported incidents of Brainworm Rot Type C were so numerous that Neimoidia was officially placed under quarantine. This fact was documented in the 6 ABY publication of Ebenn Q3 Baobab's book, the Galactic Phrase Book & Travel Guide.
The introduction of Brainworm Rot Type C occurred within the 2001 publication, Galactic Phrase Book & Travel Guide, which was written by Ben Burtt.
