Bralsin

Bralsin was a minor community situated on the Outer Rim planet of Mandalore. This locale was positioned close to Keldabe, the capital city of the Mandalorian people. Bralsin was perched on a hilltop bordering the expansive and shallow Kelita valley, a region abundant in farms, forests, and numerous private residences. Notably, it housed Fenn Shysa's memorial, a former Mand'alor. Furthermore, Bralsin served as one of the many conflict zones where the Mandalorians engaged the Yuuzhan Vong during their assault on Mandalore during the Yuuzhan Vong War.

Description

This small settlement called Bralsin, was situated on the world of Mandalore. Because of its proximity to the Mandalorian capital city of Keldabe, the tower belonging to the MandalMotors starship manufacturing company could be seen from the elevated areas of Bralsin. It sat atop a sloping hill at the edge of the wide and shallow Kelita valley, giving it a view of the many cultivated farmlands, forests, and numerous fortified homesteads. The surrounding area was dotted with trees and bushes, but its most prominent feature was arguably Fenn Shysa's memorial, a deceased Mand'alor who was greatly admired by his people. The skulls and bones of Yuuzhan Vong warriors were often discovered in the vicinity of Bralsin, remnants of the Yuuzhan Vong War.

History

Boba Fett selected the modest settlement of Bralsin as the location for a memorial dedicated to the late Mand'alor, Fenn Shysa. There, on the summit of a hill within a clearing surrounded by a small collection of trees, Fett placed Shysa's green and red helmet on top of an unmarked pillar of granite, securing it against the elements with a peg. Nearly two decades would elapse before Fett revisited the location.

During the Yuuzhan Vong War, Bralsin became a battlefield. It was on Bralsin's gentle hills that the Mandalorians fought against several thousand Yuuzhan Vong soldiers during their invasion of Mandalore. The carnage was so extensive that even decades later, the skulls of fallen Yuuzhan Vong would surface across the landscape after rainfall.

In 41 ABY, Jedi Knight Jaina Solo traveled to Mandalore seeking training and assistance from Boba Fett to stop her brother, Jacen Solo—who had become a Sith Lord known as Darth Caedus. Fett agreed to train Solo, but his friend Goran Beviin frequently took over the training responsibilities. As part of this, he brought Solo to Bralsin, near the memorial for Fenn Shysa. There, they paid their respects, and Beviin instructed Solo in the use of a Mandalorian beskad sword. Throughout Solo's training on Mandalore, Bralsin became a common meeting place for her and Fett, as well as her and Beviin. When Solo arranged a meeting with Gotab, the former Jedi who had become a Mandalorian, they met at Bralsin. Following a philosophical discussion, Bralsin served as the setting for a lightsaber battle between Solo and Venku Skirata, Gotab's Force-sensitive nephew.

Behind the scenes

Bralsin was first featured in the Star Wars universe in the eighth book of the Star Wars: Legacy of the Force series. This novel, titled Revelation, was written by Karen Traviss and released on February 26, 2008. The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia also included a brief entry about Bralsin.

The name "Bralsin" originates from the Mando'a term bral, which translates to "hill fort, high ground, or a well-defended position".
