Caar Damask, a Muun male with Force-sensitivity, served the InterGalactic Banking Clan in several roles. Initially, he was a mid-level executive and administrator on Mygeeto. Later, he became the director of the treasury division, and eventually ascended to the positions of Co-Chair and Chairman. All of this occurred during the 9th century of the Great Peace of the Republic. As a member of the affluent Damask clan, Caar Damask was the offspring of Hego of the Damask clan and the progenitor of Hego Damask, named in honor of his grandfather. This Hego Damask later became the Dark Lord of the Sith known as Darth Plagueis.
Hego Damask I's son, Caar Damask, was born on Muunilinst sometime in the 8th or 9th century during the Great Peace of the Republic. As he matured, Caar took a primary wife, fathered multiple children, and secured employment with the InterGalactic Banking Clan. He possessed Force-sensitivity, which he diligently kept secret. Despite his efforts, Darth Tenebrous, disguised as the Bith starship designer Rugess Nome, encountered him at the High Port Space Center and became aware of his abilities. Caar utilized his powers to climb the corporate ranks by enhancing his persuasive abilities, but his progress stalled at the middle management level.
Disappointed by his lack of recognition, Caar accepted an assignment from Mals Tonith, Muunilinst's High Officer, as a personal favor, hoping to revitalize his career. He left his primary wife and children to forge a new life as the supervisor of mining operations on the Muun colony world of Mygeeto. A decade after arriving on Mygeeto, he acquired a lower-caste Muun female as his assistant. Darth Tenebrous, having discovered her Force-sensitivity and taken her as a disciple, had strategically placed her in this position. Tenebrous believed that a child born from Caar Damask and his female disciple would be exceptionally strong in the Force and suitable to become his apprentice. After instructing his disciple to seduce Caar Damask, she became his codicil wife and gave birth to his son, Hego Damask II, who was named after Caar's father, Hego Damask I.
Caar Damask and his wife raised their son in a domed city on Mygeeto, concealing their family's Force abilities. While Hego's mother was more involved in his early development, Caar still made time to show his son affection despite his demanding work schedule. Caar often met with important visitors, including Jedi Knights and their Padawans who came to Mygeeto in search of Adegan crystals for lightsaber construction. Before Hego turned five, he used a mind trick to manipulate a disliked playmate into committing suicide by jumping from a high window. This event caused Caar to view his son as a monster and become distant. Following Hego's manifestation of Force-sensitivity, Darth Tenebrous, under the guise of Rugess Nome, visited Mygeeto to negotiate a deal with Caar. In exchange for the opportunity to advance to the highest levels of the InterGalactic Banking Clan, Caar relinquished his son to Tenebrous.
Five years after Tenebrous' visit, Caar was summoned back to Muunilinst to assume the role of director of the treasury branch of the InterGalactic Banking Clan. He returned to his primary wife and children after his codicil wife mysteriously disappeared. Years later, after Hego Damask began his training under his new master, he returned to his father. Darth Plagueis later told Palpatine that he had visited Muunilinst as a young adult to live with his father and meet his clan. However, as the son of Caar Damask's codicil wife, he was never accepted by his half-siblings, who viewed him as an outsider and sought to disinherit him. Shortly thereafter, Caar became seriously ill at a relatively young age for a Muun, and it was discovered that he had a rare congenital defect in his tertiary heart. On his deathbed, Caar advised Hego to use any means necessary to protect his interests. When Hego's siblings and clan mother learned they had also inherited the defect, they spent vast sums on a geneticist in search of a cure. Plagueis, who did not carry the gene due to his different mother, had hired the geneticist to administer fake treatments. He reveled in his siblings' premature deaths, inheriting Caar's wealth that they had tried to deny him. Plagueis later confessed to Palpatine that only parts of his story were truthful.
Plagueis' inheritance included ownership of Sojourn, a moon used by the InterGalactic Banking Clan as a luxurious retreat for their wealthiest clients. Under Caar Damask's leadership, Sojourn became a hub for the galaxy's most influential figures to exchange ideas. The think tank established by Caar created the Galactic Credit Standard, proposed the chancellorship of Eixes Valorum, and restructured the Trade Federation Directorate.
