Cerasi

Cerasi was a Human female character who achieved prominence as a leader within the Young. This youth organization played a pivotal role in ending the civil conflict between the Melida and the Daan on the planet Melida/Daan. Her lineage included her father, Wehutti, a prominent Melida leader. Additionally, she had a brother, who was assigned to work in a munitions factory, and from whom she had not received any communication since his departure.

Biography

During the period of civil unrest, Cerasi encountered a Daan youth named Nield. Together, they conceived the idea of uniting the Daan and Melida orphans. They established an organization dedicated to advocating for peace, which became known as the Young. Throughout the war, this group provided assistance to the Jedi, specifically Qui-Gon Jinn, along with his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi, in their mission to rescue their Jedi colleague, Tahl. Subsequently, Kenobi made the decision to remain and fight alongside the Young. Cerasi developed a close bond of friendship with Kenobi during his time on Melida/Daan. Kenobi later confided in Bant Eerin that he had been in love with her.

Under the joint guidance of Nield and Cerasi, the Young emerged victorious in the war and proceeded to establish a government. Nield was elected as the Governor of Melida/Daan and initiated a new history squad tasked with dismantling the Halls of Evidence. Cerasi and Kenobi began to question the wisdom of destroying Melida/Daan's historical records and took steps to halt the destruction. Nield perceived this as a betrayal. The situation escalated when the elders and Nield's followers, all armed, converged on the Halls of Evidence. Kenobi and Cerasi intervened in an attempt to prevent violence, but Cerasi, who was unarmed, was fatally shot by a sharpshooter affiliated with Mawat who was positioned on a nearby rooftop.

Attack on Wehutti

When Deila, Obi-Wan, Cerasi, and another Young warrior set out to apprehend Wehutti (who was actually Cerasi's father) and some Elders who refused to surrender their weapons, Cerasi was instructed to remain outside. Deila, the Young's explosives expert, detonated the door, and the Young stormed in, finding themselves evenly matched with the Elders. Fortunately, Cerasi scaled the side of the house and launched a surprise attack from behind, securing a victory for the Young.

Legacy

The death of Cerasi had a profound impact on both Nield and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Shortly thereafter, Qui-Gon Jinn returned to Melida/Daan and, in collaboration with Kenobi, launched an investigation into Cerasi's murder. Their investigation revealed that a member of the Young, named Mawat, had armed both factions and strategically placed sharpshooters at the scene, resulting in Cerasi's death. Upon learning this information, Obi-Wan informed Nield, and together they attempted to prevent the ongoing conflict being waged in Cerasi's name, although they were unsuccessful in stopping the violence. Subsequently, Qui-Gon arrived and presented a hologram of Cerasi advocating for peace. Cerasi had recorded this message on her datapad shortly before her death. Qui-Gon successfully negotiated a cease-fire, and Nield was appointed as one of the three planetary leaders.
