During the year 382 BBY, Roy undertook a mission to transport crucial medical provisions to Eiram. He journeyed aboard the Longbeam cruiser known as the Valiant, accompanied by fellow Jedi Master Creighton Sun, Jedi Knight Gella Nattai, and his own Padawan Enya Keen.
The character of Char-Ryl-Roy made his debut in the 2022 novel titled The High Republic: Convergence. This novel was penned by Zoraida Córdova as part of the larger Star Wars: The High Republic multi-platform narrative. In the "The Chancellors" episode of Characters of Star Wars: The High Republic, a visual depiction shows the Cerean Jedi in conversation with Orlen Mollo, with Jedi Knight Gella Nattai visible in the backdrop. A subsequent image of Char-Ryl-Roy featured in Star Wars: The High Republic: Chronicles of the Jedi confirmed that the Jedi depicted in Characters of Star Wars: The High Republic was, in fact, Char-Ryl-Roy.
