Charles Boyd


Charles Boyd is a former author and served as game director at BioWare Austin for the video game Star Wars: The Old Republic along with its expansions. He also collaborated on writing the reference book titled Star Wars: The Old Republic Encyclopedia.

Charles Boyd in 2009 In 2006, Charles Boyd joined Bioware and became part of the writing team led by Daniel Erickson for Star Wars: The Old Republic. In this role, he developed the narrative for one of the game's eight classes: the Trooper. Following Erickson's departure in late 2012, Boyd was promoted to the position of lead writer alongside Hall Hood, contributing to the game's initial expansion, Rise of the Hutt Cartel (2013). Subsequently, he took on the role of sole lead writer for the second narrative expansion, Shadow of Revan (2014).

Boyd also functioned as the lead writer for Knights of the Fallen Empire (2015). Soon after the release of this expansion, he was promoted to lead creative designer. From there, he advanced to the position of creative director in mid-2016, where he contributed to Knights of the Eternal Throne and further content for The Old Republic.

After a 16-year tenure with Bioware, Charles Boyd departed from the company on August 05, 2022.

Charles Boyd is a fan of costuming and participates in organizations such as the 501st Legion, the Rebel Legion, and the Mandalorian Mercs.
