Cheg was a tabletop game known for its boisterous nature and occasional bursts of physical play. In a standard Cheg match, two participants would face off, each trying to dominate a small puck. They would use their knuckles to hit the puck, aiming to send it across the table and into a goal for points. It wasn't unusual for players to use shoulder charges on nearby rivals as they fought to either obtain or maintain possession of the puck.
Throughout the galaxy, establishments like Zerria's Bar on Drall, a planet, featured Cheg tables. Two Mandalorians, Novoc Vevut and Ghes Orade, experienced Cheg players, decided to instruct Mirta Gev in the game after encountering the current Mand'alor, Boba Fett, at Zerria's Bar. Gev quickly grasped the rules and engaged in an energetic game against Orade.
Cheg made its debut in the Star Wars universe in the Star Wars: Legacy of the Force novel Bloodlines, penned by author Karen Traviss and released on August 29, 2006. Subsequently, Cheg received a dedicated entry in the 2008 reference book The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia.
The depiction of Cheg, both within Bloodlines and The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, bears a striking similarity to the real-world tabletop game known as air hockey.
