American computer game designer and writer, Chris Avellone, is a notable figure in the industry. His tenure as a key designer at Black Isle Studios saw him contribute significantly to titles like Fallout 2 and Icewind Dale, but he achieved greatest recognition as the lead designer for Planescape: Torment. Following the closure of Black Isle Studios, Avellone, along with some former colleagues, established Obsidian Entertainment. At Obsidian, he took on the role of lead designer for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, before departing in 2015 to pursue freelance game writing. Since then, he has collaborated on various projects with different studios, including Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order with Respawn Entertainment.
After Interplay Entertainment closed its doors, Chris Avellone, who had been working there as the lead designer, joined forces with other ex-Interplay employees to create Obsidian Entertainment. Their initial commercial undertaking was the Star Wars role-playing game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, where he served as the lead designer. Additionally, he played a vital role in the game's writing, especially in crafting the companions.
Later on, he penned a short comic called "Unseen, Unheard," featured in Star Wars Tales 24, as well as several stories for Clone Wars Adventures.
More than ten years after Knights of the Old Republic II was released, Avellone made his way back to the Star Wars universe, contributing as a writer for Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
