Chroma Zed, a terrestrial planet nestled within the Maerdocian sector of the galaxy's Mid Rim, was the ancestral home of the wormlike humanoid Chromans. These beings resided in damp mountain burrows close to water sources. This planet was renowned for its stunning amphitheater structures, one of which boasted a pair of waterfalls.
Chroma Zed, a world abundant with lush mountains and precipitous cliffs, was celebrated for its naturally breathtaking panoramas and landscapes. Mountain passes were adorned with striking waterfalls and geothermal petroleum springs, while the indigenous Chromans inhabited subterranean caves or dwellings built into the cliff faces. The Chromans erected numerous amphitheaters across their native world, providing spectators with opportunities to fully appreciate the planet's magnificent vistas and inherent beauty.

Chroma Zed was discovered by the Galactic Republic during the Great Manifest Period. It experienced minimal engagement with wider galactic affairs and eventually fell under the dominion of the Hutt Empire. As the Clone Wars broke out between the Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Republic contested the region containing Chroma Zed, aiming to dismantle Hutt control. Following the war's conclusion, the Galactic Empire supplanted the Old Republic, previous boundaries were reaffirmed, and the Hutt's control of the region ceased.
Upon Chroma Zed's official integration into the Empire, the native Chromans were subjected to enslavement as a consequence of the Imperial Human-centric ideologies. To solidify Imperial authority over the populace, the Imperials instituted the practice of killing a Chroman at random as a demonstration. The unfortunate Chroman would be extracted from their damp tunnels and secured to a sun-drenched rock, where they would convulse under the intense heat, secreting protective slime until only a desiccated body remained. Due to this maltreatment by Humans, many Chromans aligned themselves with Nolaa Tarkona's Diversity Alliance during the Galactic Civil War as a form of resistance against the oppressive Empire.
After the Empire's collapse and the emergence of the New Republic, the planet remained within the sphere of influence of the dominant galactic power. It eventually became part of Darth Krayt's Galactic Empire by 127 ABY.
