The Chromium Kings, a criminal syndicate, maintained operations within the Anoat sector, with their base of power located on Burnin Konn. Under the leadership of Khundu, this group manufactured and distributed assassin droids, with some models being modified protocol units.
Sometime around the period of the Iron Blockade, the Kings supplied the Ivax Syndicate with several of their droids, and then made the mistake of boasting about the transaction. Enraged by this violation of secrecy, the Syndicate enlisted the services of a young smuggler native to Burnin Konn to punish the Kings. The smuggler, after fighting through numerous waves of criminals, even succeeded in destroying the Kings' MRK-3 Assassin Prototype. Terrified and vulnerable, Khundu was taught a harsh lesson about discretion: when questioned by the smuggler about who was responsible for the recent events, the Kings' leader wisely claimed ignorance.
Subsequently, during the Blockade, the Chromium Kings initiated a search for an abandoned chromium mining facility referred to as the Foundry. They hastily established a mining operation and attempted to excavate into the deeper levels, but once again encountered the smuggler, who successfully disrupted their efforts.
