"Chapter 8" constitutes the eighth installment of the animated television program Star Wars: Clone Wars, marking its position as the eighth episode within both Season One and Volume One. Genndy Tartakovsky took the director's chair for this episode, which was initially broadcasted on Cartoon Network on November 18, 2003.
On the planet Muunilinst, Able-472, a clone trooper under the command of Obi-Wan Kenobi and overseeing the artillery, communicates that Durge and his swoop-riding IG lancer combat droids are causing extensive damage to their Self-Propelled Heavy Artillery vehicles. Kenobi subsequently instructs his forces to mobilize, leading to a large group of clones mounting their speeder bikes to confront the droid threat. The two groups of swoop riders then engage in a massive clash, with both clone and droid warriors being either impaled or knocked aside. During this intense battle, Obi-Wan and Durge each eliminate numerous adversaries. Amidst the heavy losses on both sides, the two leaders enter into a direct, personal confrontation.
During their duel, Durge manages to disarm Kenobi of his lance, prompting Kenobi to ignite his lightsaber and use it to destroy Durge's swoop bike. Although the swoop bike explodes, the bounty hunter emerges unscathed from the resulting flames. Kenobi then advances to attack Durge, but with surprising speed, strength, and coordination, the bounty hunter seizes Kenobi's swoop by its steering vanes and throws the Jedi off. Durge then uses the swoop as a makeshift club to attack Kenobi, who responds by slicing it into pieces and stabbing Durge in the chest.
Because Durge is a Gen'Dai, he survives the stabbing without much difficulty, and begins to laugh while pummeling Kenobi with his fists. Kenobi, with his lightsaber still embedded in Durge's chest, is unable to defend himself and is lifted off the ground by a powerful punch to the stomach. Durge then fires a rapid stream of projectiles at Kenobi using a small projectile launcher, but the Jedi deflects them using the Force. Switching to a flame thrower, Durge's attacks are once again deflected, and Kenobi uses the Force to crush the flame thrower. Wielding a large flail, Durge attempts to defeat Kenobi, but Kenobi uses the Force to summon his lightsaber and sever the flail's chain. When Durge brandishes his two blaster pistols, Kenobi disarms him before he can fire. Activating energy shields in his gauntlets, Durge deflects Kenobi's lightsaber attacks, but is unable to effectively counter. Kenobi continues to press his advantage, with Durge barely managing to block, until Kenobi finally slices off Durge's arm and cuts him in half. After apparently defeating Durge, Kenobi joins the ARC troopers. Captain Fordo informs him that his troopers are in position. Kenobi then departs on his speeder bike, leaving Durge's remains behind, unaware that the Jedi do not realize that they are beginning to regenerate and heal.
