Cola Quis, a Twi'lek of the male persuasion, held the position of senator representing Ryloth within the New Republic government and also served as a member of the Commerce Council.
During the Yuuzhan Vong invasion of the galaxy, Quis dedicated himself to serving the interests of the New Republic.
Subsequently, following the Battle of Coruscant, Quis successfully made his way to Mon Calamari, which became the regrouping point for the New Republic forces. The unfortunate demise of Chief of State Borsk Fey'lya triggered a new election process to determine his successor. Quis received a nomination for the position, alongside Cal Omas, Fyor Rodan, and Ta'laam Ranth. Despite initially showing promise, it quickly became apparent that Quis's chances of winning were slim, as the competition primarily focused on the other three contenders.
The preliminary vote count revealed that Rodan had secured thirty-five percent of the votes, Omas received twenty-eight percent, Ranth garnered eighteen percent, and Quis obtained ten percent. A number of abstentions were recorded, and a scattering of votes went to other, less prominent candidates, including, surprisingly, Pwoe. Triebakk, the Senator representing Kashyyyk (acting as Omas' representative), made an attempt to persuade Quis to transfer his votes to Omas, emphasizing Quis's unlikely path to victory. Rodan also sought Quis's endorsement.
Ranth's support grew to twenty-two percent, positioning him as a potential kingmaker, while Quis withdrew from the election after Omas pledged to appoint him as chairman of the Commerce Council, offer mid-level ministry positions to several of his associates, and establish an office of the Kellmer Institute of Higher Learning on Ryloth.
