Early on during the Galactic Empire's reign, the planet of Yar Togna experienced a devastating conquest, followed by an Imperial occupation. During this invasion, Imperial troops resorted to using rifle butts and clubs to inflict harm on civilians and damage their possessions. The Empire's violent actions resulted in widespread suffering and devastation on the planet, leading to an attempt to enslave the population. This prompted a mass exodus of its inhabitants, including the eggmates Edrio and Benthic, as they fled the planet. Historian Beaumont Kin characterized this widespread departure of the Tognath as a form of cultural genocide perpetrated by the Empire.
