Constant was one of the colony ship vessels that, together with Mother Vima, functioned as a support starship for the Beneficent Tasia colony ship. Around 3900 BBY, these three vessels embarked from the planet of Grizmallt on an exploratory mission into the perilous southern quadrant of the galaxy. Aboard the ships were refugees escaping a violent civil war who sought adventure and riches. This expedition, spearheaded by the scout Kwilaan, received personal backing from Queen Elsinoré den Tasia of Grizmallt and the blessing of a famous Jedi Master.
Following the loss of communication with Beneficent Tasia, the people of Grizmallt believed the mission had failed. However, much later, they discovered that the damaged ships had made planetfall on Naboo, located in Wild Space. These Human colonists, which included a member of the Korden family, settled on Naboo and built a successful society after conflicts with the native Gungans of the planet. Constant was later referenced within a Galactic Alliance historical document that was released by the Historical Council in 36 ABY.
The first mention of Constant occurred in the DataBank entry pertaining to the Royal Naboo within Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, a video game created by LucasArts in 2001. The StarWars.com episode summary for "Crisis on Naboo," episode eighteen of the fourth season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, which was broadcast on February 10, 2012, noted that a colony ship from Grizmallt had crashed on Naboo, but the specific ship involved was not identified.
