The Corellian Assembly served as the guiding senatorial entity for the government of the Corellian System in the aftermath of the Yuuzhan Vong War. Membership in this body was based on popular vote, and it included members from key political groups such as the Democratic Alliance, the Corellian Liberal Front, and the Centerpoint Party. Furthermore, independent representatives also secured positions through different electoral processes.
A decade following the Yuuzhan Vong invasion, the Assembly became the site of a significant power struggle, with representatives from different factions trying to prevent the extreme opinions of Thrackan Sal-Solo from prevailing. Sal-Solo's threat to declare war on the Galactic Alliance unless independence was granted was viewed by many as a course of action that would lead to immense suffering for Corellia. This situation ultimately triggered the Second Corellian Insurrection, resulting in the Galactic Alliance establishing a blockade around the Corellian system. Numerous Assembly members were concerned that Sal-Solo's actions had brought about increased difficulties for Corellians; however, following his assassination, the different parties collaborated to form a coalition government.
